About

Tibr is an Arabic-language platform for gold, silver, currency and crypto prices, available on the web at officialtibr.com and as an Android app on Google Play. The goal is simple: a clear, current price, in Arabic, with no tracking ads and no sign-up.

Countries we cover

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. Each gets gold prices for every karat in its local currency, plus exchange rates against the major currencies.

Where the prices come from

• Gold and silver: the global ounce price in USD, converted to a per-gram price for each karat by purity (24 = 999, 22 = 916, 21 = 875, 18 = 750), then converted to the local currency at the live exchange rate.
• Egypt's local price: the Egyptian gold market carries a local price that differs from the converted global price, so we show it separately with the buy and sell prices as traded.
• Currencies: exchange rates from a global FX data provider; Egyptian and Gulf bank rates are collected from the banks themselves.
• Crypto: from CoinGecko.

Update schedule

Gold and currency prices refresh every few minutes while the market is open. The time of the last update sits above each table, along with an indicator showing whether the market is open. Bank rates update daily.

Buy and sell

"Buy" is the price you pay a dealer; "sell" is what a dealer pays you. The gap between them is the dealer's margin and varies by shop. Site prices exclude making charges except on the bullion and coin page, where this is stated.
