Foreign currency rates against the Egyptian pound were updated again today, 14 September 2026, with households and importers alike watching the dollar for its direct effect on prices.
The US dollar was quoted at about 51.38 pounds, the euro near 59.59 pounds and sterling around 69.48 pounds. Among Gulf currencies, the Saudi riyal stood close to 13.70 pounds and the UAE dirham near 13.99 pounds.
Across the rest of the region, the Kuwaiti dinar remained the highest valued at roughly 166.84 pounds, followed by the Bahraini dinar at about 136.64, the Omani rial near 133.62, the Qatari riyal around 14.11 and the Jordanian dinar close to 72.47 pounds.
Importers and business owners watch the dollar closely because it feeds directly into the cost of goods and raw materials, and from there into what the shopper pays.
Treat unlicensed platforms advertising unusually attractive rates with caution. The apparent gain rarely covers the risk, and the official route stays safer even when it looks less generous.
Exchange rates are set by supply and demand for foreign currency, the balance of exports and imports, flows from investment, tourism and remittances, and the central bank's decisions in Egypt on interest rates and monetary policy.
