Gold in Egypt today: the latest prices, 23 September 2026

Gold eased in Egypt today, 23 September 2026, giving buyers a softer entry point than earlier in the week.
A gram of 24K was quoted at about 7,200 pounds, with 22K near 6,600 pounds, 21K — the grade most buyers across the region choose — around 6,300 pounds, and 18K close to 5,400 pounds. The 8-gram gold pound, at 21K, works out at roughly 50,400 pounds.
Globally, the ounce traded near $4,345, which is the reference every local price is built from. Converting it takes two steps: divide by 31.1 to reach a gram of pure gold, then apply the local exchange rate and the purity of the karat.
Weight affects the making charge directly. The larger the piece, the smaller the relative charge per gram, which is why buyers saving for the long term tend to prefer heavier pieces over a collection of small ones.
A common mistake is accepting the first advertised price without comparing. Differences between shops can be meaningful on a single piece, particularly in the making charge, which has no fixed tariff.
Most advisers suggest spreading savings rather than putting everything into one asset, treating gold as part of a balanced mix chosen to match your goals and your tolerance for risk.
Local demand follows clear seasonal patterns — wedding season, the end of the school year, the approach of the holidays. In those windows jewellery demand rises and making charges often rise with it.
A softer market often draws buyers who have been waiting, though it is worth remembering that a single day's move says little about the weeks ahead.
When you come to sell, the value of what you hold is usually based on the gram price alone, without the making charge. Choosing the right karat and form for your purpose — saving or wearing — matters more than timing the market.
