Gold right now in Egypt, 7 October 2026: a gram of 21K at 6,145 pounds

Prices in Egypt came under pressure today, 7 October 2026, following the global ounce lower.
A gram of 24K was quoted at about 7,023 pounds, with 22K near 6,438 pounds, 21K — the grade most buyers across the region choose — around 6,145 pounds, and 18K close to 5,267 pounds. The 8-gram gold pound, at 21K, works out at roughly 49,161 pounds.
Globally, the ounce traded near $4,138, which is the reference every local price is built from. Converting it takes two steps: divide by 31.1 to reach a gram of pure gold, then apply the local exchange rate and the purity of the karat.
Always ask for a receipt stating the weight, karat and making charge. It is the only reference you have when reselling or exchanging, and it protects you from any later disagreement over what you bought.
The gap between a dealer's buy and sell price widens in volatile periods and narrows in quiet ones, which means buying and selling within a few days rarely works in a saver's favour.
Buying in Egypt tends to rise around wedding seasons and holidays, and that local demand can push making charges up even when the global price has not moved at all.
It helps to separate the "gold price" from what you actually pay. Jewellery carries a making charge you lose on resale, while bars and coins carry a much smaller premium and sit closer to the raw gram price — which is why they suit saving better than ornaments do.
A softer market often draws buyers who have been waiting, though it is worth remembering that a single day's move says little about the weeks ahead.
Before buying, compare the full price — metal plus making charge — across more than one shop, and remember that bars and coins carry a far smaller premium than jewellery and suit investment better.
