Silver in Egypt today: the latest prices, 29 September 2026
1 min read
Silver continues to draw interest in Egypt as a savings and investment option alongside gold, particularly for buyers who want a precious metal at a reachable price.
Fine silver (999) was quoted at about 81.59 pounds a gram today, with sterling silver (925) near 75.47 pounds. An ounce came in around 2,538 pounds.
In larger units, 100 grams of fine silver works out at roughly 8,159 pounds, and a full kilogram at about 81,593 pounds — the weights favoured by anyone treating silver as a long-term store of value.
One figure investors watch is the gold-to-silver ratio, currently around 85. It says an ounce of gold is worth roughly 85 ounces of silver, and some use it to judge which of the two looks better value.
Silver also carries real industrial demand, in electronics, solar panels and electric vehicles. That demand supports it over the long term alongside its role as a store of value.
Some savers move toward silver when the gold-to-silver ratio is high, on the view that it is below fair value at that point. It is a common reading, though not a guaranteed rule.
Silver purity is graded much like gold. Fine silver is 999, sterling is 925 — the grade most jewellery and accessories use — and 800 sits below both. The higher the number, the purer the metal and the higher the value.
