Silver prices today, 21 September 2026, in Egypt, and the gold ratio
1 min read
Silver continues to draw interest in Egypt as a savings and investment option alongside gold, particularly for buyers who want a precious metal at a reachable price.
Fine silver (999) was quoted at about 84.95 pounds a gram today, with sterling silver (925) near 78.58 pounds. An ounce came in around 2,642 pounds.
In larger units, 100 grams of fine silver works out at roughly 8,495 pounds, and a full kilogram at about 84,953 pounds — the weights favoured by anyone treating silver as a long-term store of value.
One figure investors watch is the gold-to-silver ratio, currently around 85. It says an ounce of gold is worth roughly 85 ounces of silver, and some use it to judge which of the two looks better value.
Silver also carries real industrial demand, in electronics, solar panels and electric vehicles. That demand supports it over the long term alongside its role as a store of value.
Silver tarnishes in humid air and loses its shine over time, so it is best kept in sealed bags or airtight boxes — particularly bars and investment pieces.
Some savers move toward silver when the gold-to-silver ratio is high, on the view that it is below fair value at that point. It is a common reading, though not a guaranteed rule.
